ABSTRACT

Fibroids are most common benign tumors of the uterus, mostly situated in the body of the uterus. Rarely, they arise from extra-uterine sites with broad ligament fibroids being uncommon. Although by clinical examination and newer imaging modalities, we can easily know about size, number, and origin of these tumors and any anatomical distortion of surrounding vital organs, but some time it is very difficult to differentiate pre-operatively between large broad ligament leiomyomas and ovarian/adnexal pathology specially if cystic degeneration or necrosis is present in leiomyoma. We report four patients with broad ligament fibroids to emphasize the importance of their location, the diagnostic difficulties, and surgical complications they can pose.

ABSTRACT

Primary broad ligament carcinomas unassociated with either uterine or ovarian disease are extremely rare. This case report deals with such a rare occurrence of primary broad ligament carcinoma of the serous papillary type with foci of transitional differentiation in a 40 yr old woman with a clinical diagnosis of multiple fibroids of uterus. The highlight of this case is that besides being a rare tumor occurring in an unusual site such as the broad ligament the papillary serous carcinoma reported here also has a unique feature of transitional cell differentiation.

ABSTRACT

Primary carcinoma arising from a paratubal cyst in the mesosalpinx in uncommon. Serous tumors of low malignant potential outnumber invasive carcinomas, which are often of endometrioid type. Only five cases of serous papillary cystadenocarcinoma with capsular invasion have been documented. We report a case of invasive papillary cystadenocarcinoma arising in a large paratubal cyst of the mesosalpinx, in an infertile woman. Possible hormonal basis, its link to serous borderline and malignant tumors of the peritoneum, and value of pre/intra operative cyst fluid cytology are discussed. Lack of definitive management protocols, prognostic indicators and possible consequences are briefly reviewed.

ABSTRACT

Lipoleiomyoma is a very uncommon tumor, and broad ligament of uterus is one of the rare sites. No case has been reported in last five years. This case is presented because of its rarity and its uncommon site of occurrence.

ABSTRACT

Se presenta un caso de cistadenoma seroso papilar de bajo potencial maligno localizado en el ligamento ancho, en una mujer de 43 años de edad. La localización de este tumor no es usual y sólo 12 casos han sido reportados en la literatura internacional
